    After a user enters the search query and clicks Search, the system searches the index and selects pages matching the query. Before results are displayed to a user, they are sorted by relevance (which is usually defined by density of keywords on a given page), or by the page timestamp. Users can choose the sorting mode on the search result page by clicking on one of the links: Sort by relevance or Sort by date.

    Sometimes you may need give preference to certain documents when displaying the search results. For example, you may want to put goods that are to be sold out as soon as possible, higher in the search results. To achieve this, a special facility has been developed allowing to assign a required weight (page rank) to required pages. Pages matching the specified ranking criteria will be put at the top of the search result list, according to page ranks indicated in the ranking rules.

    The Search result sorting rules form displays existing page ranking rules. You can add more rules here and recreate the search index. You will have to recreate the index if you have created, deleted or modified a rule. Thus, adding or modifying a rule involves two steps:

    To display only the required rules, set the filters according to the search criteria. The following table describes the filter fields.

    Parameter Description
    ID The ID of the required rule.
    Site The site on which the required rule is effective.
    Module The module (in fact, content disposition) to which the required rule is applicable.
    Parameter 1 The parameter 1 of the required rule. Depending on the selected content disposition, the parameter can be:
    • file name;
    • information block type;
    • forum name.

    Click Set filter to activate the filter. To display all information, click Cancel.

    Add Opens a form in which you can create a new ranking rule.  
    Excel Exports data from the table to the MS Excel format.

    List of rules

    Field Description
    Checkbox column Used to select rules to which the desired actions are to be applied. Available rules and actions can be found in the action bar below the table.
    Action menu
    Clicking the action button of any rule opens a menu allowing to Edit or Delete the rule.
    ID The rule ID.
    Site The site on which the rule is effective.
    Module Content disposition. Indicates the type of content to which the rule is applicable.
    Parameter 1 First ranking parameter. Meaning depends on content disposition:
    • static files - not used;
    • information blocks - the information block type;
    • forums - the forum name.
    Parameter 2 Second ranking parameter:
    • static files - not used;
    • information blocks - the information block;
    • forums - the forum thread.
    Parameter 3 Third ranking parameter:
    • static files - file name;
    • information blocks - the information block element;
    • forums - the forum message text.
    Rank The ranking rule weight. Defines the order in which documents matching the rule criteria are positioned in the search result list. The less is the weight, the higher is the position.

    Search index update

    This section contains button with which you can update the index. You will have to update the index for changes to take effect. Click Update to update the index.
